DAY 1: BAGDOGRA/SILIGURI TO PHUENTSHOLING

Upon arrival in Phuentsholing, the gateway to Bhutan from the Indian state of West Bengal, you will be welcomed by our representative from the Bhutan Travel Bureau. Phuentsholing is a fast-growing town and Bhutan’s commercial center. Stay overnight at your hotel in Phuentsholing.

DAY 2: PHUENTSHOLING TO THIMPHU

After breakfast, start your journey to Thimphu. On the way, visit Kharbandi Gompa, a beautiful monastery built in 1967 by the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choedon. The monastery’s gardens offer breathtaking views of Phuentsholing and the Indian plains, with tropical plants and flowers.

The drive takes you through steep mountain ranges, lush jungles, and small towns like Gedu and Chukha. Enjoy lunch along the way. The road follows the Wang Chu River to Chuzom, where the Wang Chu and Paro Chu Rivers meet, before continuing on to Thimphu. Stay overnight at your hotel in Thimphu.

DAY 3: EXPLORE THIMPHU

Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is a beautiful blend of traditional culture and modern life, set against the backdrop of stunning natural scenery. Here are some of the must-see sights and features that make Thimphu special: Tashichhodzong: This majestic fortress-monastery is the seat of Bhutan’s government and the residence of the king’s secretariat. Its impressive architecture and peaceful surroundings make it one of Thimphu’s most iconic landmarks. Buddha Dordenma: A giant golden statue of Buddha, standing at 169 feet, overlooks the valley from a hilltop. This serene and awe-inspiring site offers panoramic views of Thimphu and the surrounding mountains. National Memorial Chorten: Built in honor of the Third King of Bhutan, this stupa is an important religious site for the Bhutanese people. It is often surrounded by locals who circle the monument in prayer. Changangkha Temple: A 12th-century temple perched on a hill, offering incredible views of Thimphu. It is one of the oldest and most revered temples in the region. DAY 4: THIMPHU TO PUNAKHA

Drive through the scenic Dochu-La Pass (3,100 meters), where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks on clear days. Continue your journey into the warmer Punakha Valley, which takes about 3 hours. Along the way, pass through beautiful rhododendron forests, especially stunning in spring.

Visit Punakha Dzong, known as the "Palace of Great Happiness," built in 1637 at the meeting point of the Mo Chu and Pho Chu Rivers. It is the winter residence of the Je Khenpo and the monastic community.

After lunch, take a short walk to Chimi Lhakhang, the temple of the “Divine Madman,” known for his unique teachings and blessings for fertility. Overnight in Punakha/Wangduephodrang.

DAY 5: PUNAKHA TO THIMPHU TO PARO

In the morning, hike from Yabesa village through rice fields to Khamsum Yueley Namgyal Chorten, a beautiful hilltop stupa built by Queen Ashi Tshering Yangdon Wangchuk. Enjoy stunning views of the Punatsangchu River.

After a picnic lunch by the river, return to Thimphu to visit handicraft and souvenir shops. Then, head to Paro. On the way, stop at Semtokha Dzong, Bhutan's oldest dzong, which is now a school for language and cultural studies. Check into your hotel in Paro for the night.

DAY 6: PARO

Start the day with a hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), which is 900 meters above the Paro Valley. This important site, linked to the 8th-century Guru Rimpoche, offers amazing views. For those who can’t hike, horseback rides are available up to the midway point (Cafeteria).

After lunch, visit the rebuilt Drukgyel Dzong, originally built in 1644 to celebrate Bhutan’s victory over Tibetan invaders. On clear days, Mount Jomolhari (7,314m) is visible in the background. Return to Paro and explore other sites in the valley. Overnight in Paro

DAY 7: DEPART PARO

After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to Paro Airport for your onward journey

Itinerary is always flexible if you are travelling in a smaller group. You have a choice of eating in a different restaurant, however, the menu depends on the chef and usually it is a set menu but not necessarily the same menu every day.

It is in the tourism industry but it is not compulsory. It actually depends on the service rendered to you.

Yes, things that are not included in the tariff are all beverages, telecommunications, tips, laundry, massage and souvenir shopping.

Bhutan is well connected and every town has IDD services. Internet cafes are available almost everywhere. Cell phones can also be used but you need to get Bhutan prepaid SIM Card and recharge it. Recharge vouchers are available at every second shop in town.

You can exchange money in the banks as well as in the hotels were you are staying. Rates will be better in the banks plus US$ is acceptable in almost all of the shops in town.

It cannot be safer anywhere else in the world.

Bhutan is all season tourist destination for cultural tours. However the month of February, March, April, and September, October, November are considered the best time due to pleasant weather conditions.  December and January are winter months and June, July and August, the rainy season. It is important to note that the climatic conditions during the winter months are not extreme. The average temperature would range from 10-17 degree Celsius during day time.

The money you have transferred will be with held by the Tourism Council of Bhutan till the day you depart. Travel Agents can only withdraw the money after your departure upon submitting your tour invoice. Therefore, your money is safe.

It is government rule that total tour payment must be remitted without which the government will not issue the visa.

Decide the date and the port of entry (You can fly into Bhutan from one of these cities; Bangkok, Katmandu, New Delhi, Calcutta and Dacca) into Bhutan.

Except for travelers from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all visitors to Bhutan are required to obtain visa approval prior to their arrival, which will be processed by us.

Tourism is not restricted but the minimum daily tariff is set by the government. It is also necessary that all tourists must come through a registered tour operator to plan your itinerary and process your visa. Tourist cannot come on their own unless they are invited guest.

Druk Air operates daily flight (once daily) from Bangkok (Thailand) and four flights a week from New Delhi, Kathmandu and Calcutta (India) and two flights a week from Dacca (Bangladesh). There are different flight schedules for the summer and the winter seasons. For Druk Air schedules click on Flights Details or you can also visit Druk Air web site at www.drukair.com.bt . You can also enter Bhutan via Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri (West Bengal) in India. It has regular flights from New Delhi (twice daily).

Bhutan is connected to the outside world through Druk Air (Royal Bhutan Airlines), the national carrier which is the only airline operating flights in and out of the kingdom.
