Tour Plan

Day 1:

After you arrive in Paro and complete immigration, a HimaQuest Tours representative will welcome you at the airport and take you to your hotel. Once you’ve checked in and rested, we’ll have a brief orientation to go over the trip details. Later, we’ll visit the National Museum of Bhutan and the beautiful Paro Dzong. You’ll spend the night at the hotel

Day 2:

Walk up to Tiger’s Nest, also called Taktshang Monastery, one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks perched on a cliff. The hike takes about 4-5 hours round trip, with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Along the way, you can stop to take photos and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Lunch will be served at the Taktshang Teahouse, offering a beautiful view of the monastery. After descending, you’ll return to your hotel to rest and relax. Spend the night at the hotel.

Day 3:

Trek from Paro to Jele Dzong. Our journey starts with a gentle 6-7 km walk at a moderate altitude of 2,600 meters. Along the way, you’ll pass through serene forests of pine and rhododendron, with occasional views of Paro Valley below. The trail is well-marked and offers a perfect introduction to the trek. Upon reaching Jele Dzong, you’ll have time to explore the small monastery and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Overnight camping near Jele Dzong

Day 4:

Continue your trek from Jele Dzong to Jangchulakha, covering a distance of 10 km at an altitude of under 3,000 meters. The trail winds through enchanting alpine meadows and dense rhododendron forests, creating a picturesque journey. As you walk, keep an eye out for yaks grazing in the fields and colorful birds in the trees. The hike offers a mix of gentle inclines and flat stretches, making it a pleasant experience. Spend the night camping at Jangchulakha under the starlit sky.

Day 5:

The trek continues from Jangchulakha to Jimilangtso, an 11 km trail at an altitude of 3,350 meters. This day’s route offers stunning views of the Himalayan peaks and passes through high-altitude meadows and forests. As you ascend, the air becomes cooler, and the landscape opens up to reveal pristine alpine scenery. Jimilangtso is famous for its serene, crystal-clear lake surrounded by rugged terrain. Upon arrival, enjoy the peaceful setting of the campsite near the lake, with its reflections of the surrounding peaks. Overnight camping at Jimilangtso.

Day 6:

After breakfast, continue your trek from Jimilangtso to Simkota, covering 11 km at a similar altitude. The route takes you through open meadows and along ridges that offer breathtaking views of the mountains. The crisp mountain air and the serenity of the surroundings make the journey especially memorable. Upon reaching Simkota, enjoy the peaceful setting of the campsite by the lake. Overnight camping here provides a perfect retreat in the lap of nature.

Day 7:

After breakfast, begin your 10 km trek from Simkota to Phajoding, starting at an altitude of 4,200 meters and descending to 3,000 meters. This easy trail offers breathtaking views of mountain peaks, including the majestic Gangkar Puensum. As you descend toward Phajoding, the landscape transitions to dense forests and serene meadows. Phajoding is a spiritual site, home to a centuries-old monastery. Spend the night camping in this tranquil area.

Day 8:

After breakfast, start your easy 8 km trek from Phajoding to Thimphu, at an altitude of under 3,000 meters. The trail goes through forests of pine and rhododendron, with occasional spots where you can enjoy lovely views of the valley below. As you get closer to Thimphu, the busy city starts to appear. The last part of the trek offers a calm break before reaching the lively city. Overnight at a hotel in Thimphu.

Day 9:

After breakfast, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Thimphu Valley, including a visit to the handicraft center and some shopping in the morning. After lunch, explore the local farmer's vegetable market and wander around Thimphu town. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10:

After breakfast, drive from Thimphu to Paro Airport for your early morning departure. On the way, enjoy the scenic views of the Paro Valley one last time. Once at the airport, you’ll have time to check in and complete any final formalities before your flight. Safe travels as you depart Bhutan, taking with your memories of this beautiful journey.

Itinerary is always flexible if you are travelling in a smaller group. You have a choice of eating in a different restaurant, however, the menu depends on the chef and usually it is a set menu but not necessarily the same menu every day.

It is in the tourism industry but it is not compulsory. It actually depends on the service rendered to you.

Yes, things that are not included in the tariff are all beverages, telecommunications, tips, laundry, massage and souvenir shopping.

Bhutan is well connected and every town has IDD services. Internet cafes are available almost everywhere. Cell phones can also be used but you need to get Bhutan prepaid SIM Card and recharge it. Recharge vouchers are available at every second shop in town.

You can exchange money in the banks as well as in the hotels were you are staying. Rates will be better in the banks plus US$ is acceptable in almost all of the shops in town.

It cannot be safer anywhere else in the world.

Bhutan is all season tourist destination for cultural tours. However the month of February, March, April, and September, October, November are considered the best time due to pleasant weather conditions.  December and January are winter months and June, July and August, the rainy season. It is important to note that the climatic conditions during the winter months are not extreme. The average temperature would range from 10-17 degree Celsius during day time.

The money you have transferred will be with held by the Tourism Council of Bhutan till the day you depart. Travel Agents can only withdraw the money after your departure upon submitting your tour invoice. Therefore, your money is safe.

It is government rule that total tour payment must be remitted without which the government will not issue the visa.

Decide the number of days you want to spend in Bhutan according to your interest and budget.

Decide the date and the port of entry (You can fly into Bhutan from one of these cities; Bangkok, Katmandu, New Delhi, Calcutta and Dacca) into Bhutan.

Remit the total tour payment (You can download the money transfer details here). It is government rule that total tour payment must be remitted without    which the government will not issue the visa.

Once we have confirmed dates, port of entry, dully filled visa application form, and money received, we will process your visa.

Except for travelers from India, Bangladesh and Maldives, all visitors to Bhutan are required to obtain visa approval prior to their arrival, which will be processed by us.

Tourism is not restricted but the minimum daily tariff is set by the government. It is also necessary that all tourists must come through a registered tour operator to plan your itinerary and process your visa. Tourist cannot come on their own unless they are invited guest.

Druk Air operates daily flight (once daily) from Bangkok (Thailand) and four flights a week from New Delhi, Kathmandu and Calcutta (India) and two flights a week from Dacca (Bangladesh). There are different flight schedules for the summer and the winter seasons. For Druk Air schedules click on Flights Details or you can also visit Druk Air web site at www.drukair.com.bt . You can also enter Bhutan via Bagdogra Airport, Siliguri (West Bengal) in India. It has regular flights from New Delhi (twice daily).

Bhutan is connected to the outside world through Druk Air (Royal Bhutan Airlines), the national carrier which is the only airline operating flights in and out of the kingdom.
